Laundry has become a lot more easier after the invention of washing machines. Working couples always rely on their washing machine that washes clothes and dries them immediately. However, regular use of washing machine damages the machine tub and makes it dirty too. So, it is very important to clean your washing machine and prevent technical errors that can occur later.

Scrubbing the tub of the washing machine is not effective most of the times. So, to get rid of stubborn water, salt, iodine and strong detergent stains, here are a few cleaning tips for you.

  • To maintain your washing machine, you have to clean the tub after every wash. Make sure the water is dried up after the machine is used. Leave the cap open so that the water dries up quickly. You can also wipe-off water with a clean cloth piece.
  • To clean water or salt stains from the washing machine tub, try white vinegar. Pour few drops of white vinegar on the stain. Leave for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with cold water to get rid of water and salt stains on washing machine.
  • After washing clothes in the machine, restore washing machine with plain water and let it run for one cycle. Let it drain completely. This removes thread, dirt and small particles that get stuck in the small holes of the machine tub.
  • To clean the lid or cap of the washing machine, add few drops of white vinegar in a cloth piece. Rub on the lid or cap to get rid of mildew or detergent stains.
  • Mix few drops of lemon juice and white vinegar and pour in the washing machine filled with water. Run the washing machine for one complete cycle.
  • You can also clean the bleach and fabric softener dispensers by scrubbing them with lemon juice and salt. Clean and wipe with a dry cloth piece. Let it dry and then place them back into the place.
  • Avoid using chemical based fabric softeners. They leave a strong stain behind. You can replace the chemical based fabric softeners with vinegar.
  • To get rid of mist smell from washing machine tub, always leave the machine open to dry after wash. You can also wipe the tub with lemon juice. Clean with a wet cloth piece.
