Remove Oil Smell From Lunch Box
Imagine you have made your spouse a finger licking lunch, packed in his office lunch box made from plastic. But when he opens it, he is treated with awful oil odour instead of your lunch aroma. This would be a turn off for you as well as your spouse.
The reason behind the smell is the use of plastic containers. Plastics have a nasty habit of absorbing smells from things that are around it. Amongst them, vegetable oil smell is one of the most annoying and problematic smell to get rid of.

Getting rid of the oil smell from lunch box is fairly easy, but a little time consuming. Some of the methods that can be used are:-
Curing: One of the simplest ways to remove oil smell from plastic is the curing process. This process would allow the odour to work out of the material naturally over time. The way that you would do this is by spreading the plastic outside in an area that receives plenty of sunlight. Allow the plastic to stay out in the sunlight all day long, and bring it inside at night. Repeat this as necessary every day until the odour has been removed.
Air dry: It is one of the most commonly used technique for removing odours from plastic lunch boxes. Spread the plastic material out, preferably off of the floor, and leave it out until the odour has left.
Newspaper method: Wash it thoroughly in hot soapy water and then dry the container well, then crumple some newspaper, place it inside and close the lid tightly. Let the sealed container sit for a day or two, then discard the newspaper and give it a sniff. If the odour is gone, just wash it before reusing it.
Bleaching method: Take a cap full of household bleach and some hot water. Stir it then fill the plastic container fully with the "bleach water" and let it sit for a few hours. It'll kill all the bacteria and germs that cause the odour and generally break down any oil or food that are stained inside of the plastic. Wash the container before using it again, to remove any excess bleach in it.
Vinegar Method: Using vinegar to remove odour from plastics is very efficient. Mix vinegar and water, and keep the solution in the plastic container with the lid on. After some time, rinse the container. Repeat if necessary.
Replace: Unfortunately, if the smell is too strong, it may be necessary to simply replace the plastic item. This is definitely the easiest way to get rid of the oil smell from plastic. However, this method is fairly final since you will no longer possess the item that you replaced.
Hopefully, these methods might help you remove filthy odour from your lunch boxes. So next time when your spouse opens his lunch, he can smell the delicious food you made for him.
