Cleaning Puja Room For Navratri
Navratri is around the corner. And we are all excited and energetic to welcome the powerful Goddess Durga in our houses. Most of the people set up a decorated room where they place the idol of Maa Durga and keep it for 9 days.
As Hindu festivals like Navratri and Durga Puja are almost here, it is time to decorate your home and clean it. Apart from bringing new items, you need to first clean your house and make it dirt-free to welcome Maa Durga.
In Hindu mythology, God will only visit a house which is clean, kept tidy and has positivity. So, if you are celebrating Navratri or Durga Puja, here are few cleaning tips to prepare your home for the upcoming festival.
Apart from cleaning the overall house, it is very important to clean the Puja room. As Navratri has come closer, here are few tips to clean your Puja room and prepare for Navratri.
Cleaning Puja Room For Navratri:

Cleaning Floor: It is very important to clean the floor of the Puja room. If you have a small temple built inside the Puja room, clean that as well with a soapy water solution.
Clean Idol: If you have a metal or silver Maa Durga idol, clean it with simple ingredients like salt or toothpaste. This will clean and bring shine on the idol as well.
Puja Utensils: In most of the Puja rooms, you will find copper utensils. If you have copper utensils, clean it with tamarind pulp or toothpaste. Silver utensils can be cleaned with toothpaste.
Lamps: Earthen lamps become greasy and turn black due to flame and ghee. Soak them in hot soapy water for 20-25 minutes. Scrub to remove oil and dark stains from it.
Idol Clothes: Once you are done with cleaning the Puja room for Navratri, now clean the idol clothes and accessories like garland, chunari, tiara to name a few. Ideally, you must buy new clothes for dressing up Maa Durga for Navratri. However, accessories are repeated in most of the houses. So clean the accessories by soaking them in soapy water and then rinsing with clean water.
Puja Bell: Cleaning the Puja room for Navratri is not that tricky. Just clean the metal Puja bell with tamarind pulp to make it shiny.
Tiles: If you have tiles on the wall or on the floor, clean it with a soapy water solution. If there are grease stains, use vinegar and water to clean the tiles.
