Repairing Cigarette Burns & Stains On Fabric

In India, women avoid wearing burnt clothes as they feel wearing such clothes is a bad omen. But it is painful to chuck the branded outfits that you had bought after saving a lot of money, for those, here are a few ideas.
Tips To Repair Cigarette Burns On Fabric (Fabric Care)
1. One of the easiest ways to hide the burnt area is to stick sequines or lace over it. This will hide it completely and give a new look to your dress. If the burn is at the sleeve ends or neck line or near the cuts, this is a good idea.
2. For dark coloured outfits, the burnt stain will not be very visible but to cover the holes, we suggest to add a drop of fabric glue on the hole and leave it to dry. The transparent glue will cover the spot and make it appear as original as it was before. Camlin fabric glue is by far the best.
3. For light coloured clothes, the stains are clearly visible so try to clean the area with soap or vinegar and you can also use bleach to lighten up the area. The matching 3D fabric liner or a whitener can patch up the holes and repair the burn stains.
4. You can take your dress to a nearby tailor and ask him to cut the area and do a patch work with a matching or contrast fabric. This will make your fabric look different and serve the purpose.
5. If you are good at embroidery or block printing, design the area and cover the damage. This tip is highly recommended as it doesn't matter what colour and type of the fabric is used.
These simple fabric care ideas will help you get rid of the cigarette burns and stains. Use and recommend them to people who you think would require often. The tips can also be used to repair cigarette burns and stains on carpets, curtains, sofas and other upholstery.
