Snow-fallen landscapes and icy regions look very romantic and beautiful. But those who live where it snows frequently it is not so cute to see the falling snow as getting rid of the fluffy white stuff can suddenly turn the beauty of it into an undesired chore. However, there are some methods that can help alleviate this hassle so that you might be able to enjoy the winter wonderland around you. Snow can ruin your walkways, roof, garden etc... There are several methods to remove snow and ice from your surroundings.

If you get any amount of snow accumulation, you need to remove the white stuff from your property. You should use the proper tools and equipment to remove snow safely and efficiently from your walks and driveway. Shovels or snowblower will help you to remove snow from your walkways. If you receive only several inches of light, dry snow, you may be able to shovel your walks and driveway. You can buy a snowblower to do all the work for you while all you have to do is push them. When snow is very wet and heavy snowblower is best fitting. There are three basic types, with differing uses and capacities. Often, removing the snow is just the first step in the process of making your driveways and walkways snow and ice-free. Dealing with the ice left behind is the next challenge. Ice does not just freeze on the pavement, it freezes to the pavement. Breaking that bond, or keeping it from forming in the first place, is the task of chemical de-icers or anti-icers.

A de-icer is a chemical agent that is spread on snow or ice. It does not melt all the snow; it seeps through to the surface of the pavement and melts the ice there, breaking the bond and making it easier to remove the snow. An anti-icer is a chemical agent that is applied before the snowfall begins. It prevents the bonding, thereby facilitating the removal of snow down to the surface of the pavement. Today more latest technologies are used to melt snow and ice from pavements. Electric snow melting system is one of the successful snow removing method. Electric snow-melting systems use buried cables to heat surfaces such as sidewalks and driveways. They must be laid before concrete is poured and could require upgrading the electric service panel but can conform to any shape. When snow falls the system warms the concrete and thus melts snow. Hydronic systems use flexible pipes buried under concrete to circulate heated fluid that warms the surface. They too must be laid before concrete is poured.

Sprinkling salt and other chemical deicers on slippery sidewalks may help melt snow and ice, but these products can be harmful to nearby water bodies, soil, plants and even concrete surfaces. Calcium chloride could be used to melt snow in the gutters and along the edge of the roof.

Remove any rocks from walkways before you start removing snow. Make sure there are no large objects in your path. Shovel away small amounts of snow. If the snow is light, you may only need a shovel to get rid of it. Place floor wax on the shovel to stop the snow from sticking to it. Hire a snowplow service. If you have a large area to remove snow from, it is wise to hire a professional to assist you. Throw down salt after snow removal. To prevent slipping on icy surfaces, place rock salt on walkways. To remove snow from the rooftop you can also use a a cutting wire. The snow cutter is a rake-like tool that has a wire that runs across one side of the rake. A person places the wire side down on top of the roof and pulls down the rake. The wire cuts through the snow. Then, use the other side of the rake-like tool. The other side of the snow cutter has a solid piece of plastic that pulls off the remaining snow that was cut by the wire.
