How To Clean Walls Without Ruining The Paint, 6 Easy Hacks To Get The Spotless Surface!
It is the walls that catch our attention first when we enter any room! Walls are defined with a beautiful paint colour, wallpaper, or mural work as an accent addition in homes, offices, or any chosen spaces. Walls can easily accumulate dust, cobwebs, and unsightly stains, if not cleaned for a long time (remember, walls need your attention regularly and not just during the festivities or special occasions), it can create an uninviting atmosphere.
To maintain its note-worthy outlook, it is crucial to keep the walls clean, spotless, and impressive all the time. The wall-cleaning practice will enhance the aesthetics of your space and offer a hygienic and livable indoor environment for the occupants.

Here are seven tips to help you clean your walls like a Pro.
Gather your supplies
Before you start cleaning the walls, ensure to gather the required supplies. You will typically need a bucket, warm water, mild detergent (dish soap or a commercial wall-cleaning solution), a soft cloth or sponge, a microfiber mop, a step ladder, and old towels or drop cloth to protect the flooring.
Dust the walls
Use a clean dry cloth or a microfiber mop to dust the walls. Remove the loose dirt, cobwebs, and dust. Begin from the top and work your way down to avoid pushing dirt particles down the wall.
Test a Small Wall Patch
Ideally, before cleaning the entire wall, always test the chosen cleaning solution on a small, unnoticeable area to ensure it doesn't damage the wall paint or finish. Check to see how the cleaning solution reflects on the wall or forms any adverse reactions. After you are satisfied with the small wall patch cleaning, go ahead and prepare to clean the entire wall!
Wash the Walls
Fill a bucket with lukewarm water and add around two tablespoons of mild detergent. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the soapy solution, wring it well and gently scrub the wall. Work in small areas and make sure not to saturate the cleaning around one section or corner only. Rinse the cleaning cloth frequently and change the water as required!
Address the Stains
For stubborn stains like scuffs or crayon marks, you need to follow a slightly more abrasive cleaning method. Use a cleaning solution made of baking soda and water or a soft melamine foam eraser i.e. magic eraser to tackle the tough stains. Make sure not to damage the paint.
Rinse and Dry the Wall
After cleaning the walls, rinse them with clean water (preferably warm water) to remove the soap residues. Use a clean damp cloth or sponge to wipe the walls once more. Finally, dry the walls with a clean dry cloth or towel.

Touch-up Paint (If Required)
In case you notice any area on the wall where the paint has been damaged or removed during the cleaning process, you may be required to touch up these spots with matching paint. Make sure to allow the cleaned walls to dry completely before adding any touch-ups!
Additional Tips To Maintain the Walls
• When cleaning the painted or wallpapered walls, avoid scrubbing the walls aggressively.
• For textured walls, prefer a soft-bristled cleaning brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to get rid of dust and dirt on the walls.
• Wear gloves to protect your hands especially when using cleaning solutions.
• Clean the walls frequently to maintain the appearance and aesthetics of your home.
• Follow the manufacturer's recommendations to clean and maintain the specific wall finishes to ensure your walls remain spotless and damage-free!
