Gardening is known as one of the best hobbies of human being from the beginning of civilization. If you nourish your hobby of gardening, at certain time you will realize how great it feels to be a creator. Through centuries, people are trying to cultivate various plants and have seen that there are lots of plants that can grow together & are beneficial for human being in a way or other.

Some plants allure your eyes with beautiful flowers, some are edible; there are some herbal plants like basil or fennel which serves you both as medicine and spice. Besides, the lively green colour of such plants in your house soothes your tired eyes from regular pollution and grayness of urban life.

WHAT NOT TO PLANT TOGETHER?

Now, if you don’t have enough space in the surroundings of your house, how will you get variety of vegetation there? Here comes the companion planting in your rescue. What is companion planting? There are some plants that can grow together very well. Such plants can be combined with other flowers, herbs or vegetables and become advantageous for retaining the fertility of soil or preventing attacks of pests.

If you go for companion planting, then you need to know which plant should be planted with other. There are many plants that can grow together. For example, beans can be grown with cucumber; you can plant mint with cabbages as it enhances the flavour in cabbages. There are lots of other plants that can grow together. Here is a list of such plants-

1. Carrots With Tomatoes
Plant carrots at the early time when you are planting tomatoes. When the tomatoes are growing upwards, the mature carrots make space for the roots of the tomatoes under the ground so that the tomato plants can have enough nutrients from soil.

2.Rosemary With Beans
When you are planning to put plants that can grow together, you can combine some herbs with your plant. Rosemary is a helpful herb to grow with beans as it protects the beans from the attack of beetles. These are the garden plants that gow well together.

3.Squash With Melons
If you search guidebooks of planting, among many plants that can grow together, these two will come at the first place. As such vegetables belong to the same group: Cucurbits; they require equal kind of care. So you can prepare same kind of soil and use same fertilizer for both.

4. Eggplant With Pepper
If you go to any nursery, you will find many plants that can grow together. Pick eggplants and pepper and plant them together. The peppers have a pungent smell which can keep the ugly horn-worms away to devour eggplants. These are the vegetables that grow well together.

5. Oregano With Any Vegetable
Sometimes you may get confused about plants that can grow together. Plant oregano with your vegetables. This herb serves all purpose in an organic garden along with deterring deadly insects.

6. Peas With Potatoes
Peas are the best to replenish the balance of nitrogen in soil which makes it fertile for the growth of potatoes. The ‘ribosome’ in the roots of peas is responsible for this. Not only potatoes, but there are other plants that can grow together with peas like beans, corns etc.

7. Clover With Other Vegetables
Clover is a very good source in organic farming. The red or crimson coloured flowers attract the honeybees and they helps in the pollination of other vegetables. Moreover, clover is also effective in sustaining the nitrogen in soil.

So, here are some plants that can grow together. While you are cultivating in a large scale you want a certain amount of yielding of a particular type of vegetable or flora. But in case of little kitchen garden or organic farming, it would be better to have more within a time limit. Besides, instead of applying pesticides or chemical fertilizers, it is always better to opt for natural ways to get rid of perils and enhancing the nutrients of soil. Companion planting is the best way of that.
