Frost can be major problems for gardeners with gardens getting severely affected by frosts and freezing weather. Weather of such kind can kill plants and cause unanticipated damage to your garden. As a gardener, it must be taken into account that different plants have different reactions towards freezing weather and frost. If your area is prone to freezing temperatures, your garden may well be susceptible to frost. In this article, we look at a few tips to protect your garden from frost.

Even a few degrees of change in temperature can cause widespread damage. Frost generally affects tender plants- plants that are not so tender have the capability to withstand the severity of frost. There are basically three types of frost that can affect your garden. They include- Rime, Black Frost and Hoarfrost.

The Hoarfrost for instance, is the white frost that you can witness on a chilly morning. It results when ice settles on the surface of leaves. Rime is when water settles in liquid form from fog or dew. It eventually freezes due to chilling temperatures. Black Frost is the most severe form which causes pants to blacken due to unforgiving weather conditions.

Bringing Your Plants Indoors: You can do this in the case of container plants. You can build plant bulbs and keep them in a warm place.
Covering Trees And Shrubs: This is another effective way to protect plants from frost. Using blankets or other kinds of fabric can be useful.
Watering Your Plants: Make sure you water your plants regularly if you wish to desiccation.
Choose Your Plants Wisely: This is the most important thing to do if your garden is largely susceptible to frost. Make sure you do not use too many fertilizers too, for it can have detrimental effects on your garden.
