How To Grow Basil In A Container Garden?

Many Indian homemakers face difficulty in growing basil plants as they live in apartments or in a single room house where there is no place to have these plants. Today, we shall see how to grow basil plant even in small containers (small container gardening). Take a look.
Growing Basil And Tips -
1. The Basil plant is of two types white and red (Krishna Tulsi) varieties. The plant can grow upto 15-18 inches tall. Even a 6 inch pot would be more than sufficient to grow these tulsi plants.
2. The plants require little sunlight and can be placed even in the indoors (near the windows). At least 8 hours of filtered light would be enough for a healthy green plant.
3. For container gardening, the pot should contain a pot mix, organic fertilizer, water and sunlight. While planting, the soil needs to be loose to support the growth of the roots.
4. The holy plant doesn't need to be watered often, all that you need to do is see to it that the soil is damp always.
5. Basil keeps away the mosquitoes and other germs so growing them at the entrance of the house will safeguard the family.
6. Placing it at the northern or southern corner will help it absorb ample sunlight all day. Do not add too much fertilizer as it may eat up (burn) the plant.
