A Summer Garden Of Fragrance - Part 2
Do you like perfumes?, then get natural by growing fragrant garden flowers in your outdoor. Having a flower garden is common but having a fragrant garden is wise as you do not have get air fresheners and scented candles to keep your interiors fresh and smell good. Not only that, your home will have colorful surroundings with these flowers. Take a look at how you can convert your garden into a perfume garden.
Fragrant Garden And Fragrant Garden Flowers -
1. Couroupita guianensis - A native of Brazil and India (Naga Linga Pushpa) is also one among the trees that have strong perfumer flowers. The Cannonball Tree pollinate through seeds. Every flower of the tree has at least 200 to 300 seeds apiece. The tree can grow up to 25m in height and can have branches measuring up to 3m in length. In order to grow them plant the seeds (even dried) in a large area and water them every time the soil is dry.
2. Cestrum nocturnum (raat ki rani) - The night blooming jasmine has no competition when it comes to fragrance. The evergreen shrub grows up to 4m and have smooth glossy leaves. The yellowish flowers bloom only in the night and release a unique scent. Cestrum nocturnum grows best in moist atmosphere. Light sandy soil with a pH of 6.6 to 7.5 and organic manure would be more than enough for the healthy growth of plant. The plant grows faster and bigger so it is best to grow them in corners or at the sides of the gate.
3. Nyctanthes arbor-tristis (Parijata) - Another night flowering Jasmine is famous in India and is considered as a sacred flower. The orange stalk white flower has a sweet fragrance and is said to have some medicinal effects. This shrub (small tree) grows upto 10 m tall and have a grey stalk. It can be ideally grown on the ground than in a pot. The large attractive leaves are rough and hairy, requires warmth during winter, well drained soil and need to be fertilized once a month.
4. Frangipani (Plumeria) - The flowering tree has 7-8 species. Although the plant possess poisonous, milky sap, the flowers have sweet fragrance. The Australian favorite garden flower can be cultivated in a well drained soil (30% sand with organic fertilizers). Pruning can be done upto one half or one third of their natural length. Propagation of Frangipani is usually from the cuttings (dried out for a week in shade then planted directly into ground). Best plant for summer as they need to be watered only once in a fortnight.
5. Marigold - This annual and perennial mostly herbaceous plants in the sunflower family. The bright yellow flowers are even used in foods in certain countries. The giant flowers come in many varieties and are widely grown in American countries. The early spring perennials like sunlight, a good drained soil, some amount of natural compost and little water.
