Shade Gardens For A Relaxing Summer
As a gardener you must have viewed shade as a challenging situation for growing plants. If you are blessed with the shade in your garden, there is a happy news for you. You are one of those lucky people who can enjoy gardening in the cooling shades of this thrashing summer. Learn the easy tips to own a shade garden for a relaxing summer.
Many plants thrive under the shading conditions. They include the perennial plants like ferns and foliage plants. However you don't have to constrain your shade garden with these limited plants. Colourful plants like astlbe, bulbs, caladium, foxglove, hosta, hydrangeas, lobelia and vinca will make your garden more attractive.
The plants in the shade garden may often find competition from higher trees for nutrition. The best way to ensure nutrition for plants is mulching. You can sprinkle composted leaves or a layer of wood chip or shredded bark mulch around the plants a couple inches thick. This mulch will keep the soil moist and turns into nice woodland humus as it decomposes. This soil will ensure perfect nutrition for the plants in the shade gardens.
Never assume that the plants in the shade garden never want water. The major factor that sustains the plants in the shade gardens is moisture. Spirnkle water for plants regularly in the shade garden.
Many gardeners neglect the factor of airing during the shade gardening. You can cut the overgrown branches of the shading trees to ensure apt airing for the shade garden plants. This in turn will also allow a low sunlight to the shade garden.
;It is desirable not to cluster the plants in the shade garden. You can design the garden in a way that each plant attributes its unique quality to the enhancement of the shade garden. At the same time ensure better rooting and access to the nutrients while designing the garden. You can also try hanging gardens and container gardens to add beauty to the shade gardens.
Now relax in this summer under the shade of your enchanting garden.
