The electronics industry is churning out a new version of existing products and consumers are always eager to get the latest. This generates tremendous amount of electronic waste. In order to reduce this waste we must look at ways to reuse old electronic items.

While many of us go on creating waste there are many who are looking at ways to re-purpose these waste materials. They give old electronic items a new face, a new purpose and a new identity.

Key Pen Stand
Old keyboard never come in use again. If they stop working you have to get them replaced. What happens to the old one? It will most likely end up in the junk yard. Now don’t let that happen to your old keyboard. Take the entire key strip and using some super glue paste it around an ordinary tin. Trim off the extra keys and you have a swanky looking pen stand all there for you.

CD Clock
All homes have CDs and it is also certain that some develop faults. This means they will not get fixed and will have to be thrown away. What happens to these faulty CDs? It’s time to put them to use. Transform them into simple small clocks. If you have spare keyboard number keys you can use them to mark numbers on the clock.

Monitor Garden
This might sound as one of the very weird ways to reuse electronic items but people have done it and so can you. The old bulky monitor is of no use in present times but they are available in plenty. If you have one that is useless put it to use by emptying out the interiors and filling it up with earth. Plant flowers and herbs in them and get your monitor garden ready.

Floppy Box
Gone are the floppy days but many of us may still have a couple of floppy discs. Join floppy discs at edges and create a unique looking box. It could be an open box ready to hold small trinkets. You could also use it as a pen stand.

Colorful wires, mother boards, small chips, keyboard keys and many such small electronic items turn useless. How to reuse old electronic items? One interesting way is to make jewellery out of them. Basic jewellery making stuff can be purchased and unique pieces can be created only for you. Being handmade you will find them to be priceless.

Photo Frame
Large motherboards stop functioning and the only way out is to replace them. But old one does land up in the junk. Do something new this time. Cut out the center of the board and create a photo frame out of it. Place your favorite photos in your very own handmade photo frames.

Hard-copy Notes
Yet another use of floppy discs. Take two old floppy discs and punch two holes on one side of each floppy. Place same sized blank sheets of paper in between the floppy discs. All sheets should have holes on places similar to the floppies. Fasten all sheets and the discs together and you have you small note taking pad ready for you.

Key-chains
This could probably be the simplest ways to reuse old electronic items. Fix a key ring in any of the small products like pen drives, shaped motherboards, wires etc.

Garbage on the face of the earth is defacing and destructing. It is true that innovations are necessary for development but not at the cost of mother earth. Look for ways to reuse electronic items and save the world from the getting buried in electronic waste.
