8 Basic Bathroom Design Rules You Must Follow
Apart from the living room and kitchen, the bathroom is the most functional space where we spend most of our time. It won't be an exaggeration to say that, it is a space where we start our day. So it is evident that we give it due attention design and decor-wise!
Also, anyone who visits your space notices the bathroom and judges your lifestyle sensibilities accordingly. That's why you should always design a bathroom that scores high on functionality and aesthetics! Guard these basic yet crucial tips to design the perfect bathroom:

Plan the Bathroom Design As per User's Needs
Before starting with the bathroom design plan, it is necessary to understand who is going to be the end user for the same. For example, in a one-bathroom home with several users, a bathroom should include a shower and bathtub combination, a bathroom sink or vanity cabinet and of course a toilet. Similarly, for a second bathroom, which is mostly used for bathing, a large bathtub can make an ideal solution.
Design for Now and Future
A bathroom should feature a design that can satisfy your current needs as well the future provisions i.e. to earn a good value while reselling the house. So if you plan to stay in your home for a longer duration then include all the essentials like quality sanitaryware, faucets, and fittings that make your bathing and other tasks go smoothly.
Add Enough Storage
Storage is very crucial to keep daily bath essentials like toiletries and extra bath towels, bath robes, or even spare bathroom faucets. A vanity cabinet, shelves, racks, or a wall cabinet can be added to the bathroom to keep the space clean and tidy.
Allow for Natural Light
Not all bathrooms are exposed to natural light. But if your bathroom has the liberty of adequate natural light then consider yourself lucky. It adds to the brightness and provides an illusion of space in a compact bathroom. Also, natural light helps reduce mould and mildew in a bathroom. Plus, it helps reduce energy costs and overall adds to a cheerful vibe!
Introduce a Smart Lighting Plan
Ideally, all bathrooms will include at least one artificial lighting source i.e. Bulb. But a bathroom should include a smart lighting plan that has ambient, accent and task lights. For general lighting, recessed lighting works better and wall sconces beside the vanity mirror will help you perform regular tasks like brushing your teeth, shaving, applying makeup, and more!

Ensure Bathroom Ventilation
A bathroom should have enough ventilation provisions for ease, comfort, and keeping it mould-free. If your bathroom has an operable window, then consider it as an alternative to the exhaust fan. When buying the exhaust fan, check the exhaust rate and noise level of the same.
Feature Moisture-Free Walls
A great deal of moisture is a common thing in bathrooms. Even though you include a quality exhaust fan, water and moisture get condensed on the walls. To resolve the moisture dilemma, use satin, semi-gloss or eggshell paint sheens to protect the walls against moisture. Also, installing wall tiles is a great choice to protect the walls from moisture.
