What Your Heart Rate Tells About Your Health
Today, most of us use heart rate monitors which display the readings throughout the day. But do you know what your heart rate tells you?
Today, most of us use heart rate monitors which display the readings throughout the day. But do you know what your heart rate tells you? Do those numbers say anything about your health?
Yes, how fast your heart beats or how slow your heart beats can tell a lot about how you are doing. There are certain things that affect your heart rate.
What is normal? Well, if the heart rate is between 60 to 80 beats a minute then it is said to be normal. Actually, even 100 beats a minute is also considered okay. But if it is too low or very high then you must consult the doctor. Here is what resting heart rate tells you.

Lack Of Physical Activity
Regular exercise helps your heart work well. Both obesity and inactivity can elevate heart rate. When you are heavy, your heart needs to struggle a lot to supply blood to all parts of your body. Also, when more blood needs to be pumped, the heart beats faster.

It Could Be Stress
If your resting heart rate is high, one reason could also be your stress levels. Chronic stress is bad as it always keeps your heart racing.

Usage Of Certain Drugs
Certain prescription drugs can also alter your heart rate. Calcium channel blockers may relax your heart and this could bring your heart beat down.

Thyroid Problems
Hypothyroidism could slow down the heart rate. And hyperthyroidism could up the heart rate. So, when the thyroid gland overworks or under works, the heart rate reflects it.

Issues With Electrical Activity
One reason for heart beat abnormality could also be issues with the electrical activity in the heart. Your heart functions well when its electrical system functions well helping it to beat properly.

Dehydration
When the electrolyte balance in your body gets disturbed then your heart rate may increase. Even when minerals like magnesium, calcium and potassium decline, your heart rate raises.

Over Consumption Of Caffeine
Caffeine can raise the heart rate as it tends to speed up the heart beat. After drinking an energy drink or a cup of coffee, you tend to experience a variation in your heart rate.

It Could Be Diabetes
High heart rate could also be an indication that you may suffer diabetes soon. Generally, diabetes could impact the heart rate and can also raise the risk of heart disease.
