The Colour Of Your Earwax Can Tell You How Healthy You Are!
Want to know what your earwax tells you about your health?
When you were kids, your parents and teachers would have taught you many hygiene lessons, right?
These included brushing your teeth twice a day, washing your face after coming back home from the pollution, clipping your nails regularly, scraping off your earwax, etc.
Without proper hygiene, a person may appear to be "dirty" and it can also be extremely unhealthy!

For example, if you do not brush and floss your teeth on a regular basis it can lead to excess plaque build-up, causing bacterial growth, eventually causing cavities and tooth fall.
Similarly, not washing your face after spending a lot of time in the pollution can clog your pores and lead to acne and skin blemishes.
Now, brushing your teeth and washing your face are some things most people never skip; however, according to numerous hygiene surveys, it is noted that people usually forget to clean out their earwax on a regular basis.

Earwax, also known as cerumen, is a secretion that is built-up in the inner part of the ear canals in most mammals, including human beings.
The functions of earwax include lubrication of the ear, so that the canals remain smooth enough for the sound waves to pass with ease, preventing tiny insects, dust particles, microbes, etc., from entering the ear.
Earwax is made up of fatty acids and cholesterol, giving it a yellowish, waxy appearance.
Now, as we know, human beings are affected by a number of diseases in their lifetimes.
While some diseases have very apparent symptoms, the others do not show any symptoms, unless we are careful.
Symptoms of diseases usually make it easier for the person to detect the ailment and go to the doctors to get treated in time.
There are other methods through which one can check if they are healthy or not.
Analysing the colour of your earwax is one such method. Let us see how the colour of our earwax can tell us how healthy we are.

1. Yellow
If you notice that your earwax is yellow, slightly wet and sticky, it means that you are in perfect health and that your auditory canals are also free of infections.

2. Grey
If your earwax is slightly greyish in colour, but is wet and sticky, it just means that your ear is expelling the dirt. However, if the greyish wax is dry and brittle, combined with itchiness, it could be a sign of eczema.

3. Pale Yellow
Pale yellow wax is normal if it is seen in children below the age of 8; however, if it is seen in adults, it could be a sign of mild vitamin B deficiency.

4. Dark Brown
If your earwax is dark brown and sticky, it could be because of excess perspiration and you must get checked for hypertension or high cholesterol.

5. Dark Brown And Thick
If your earwax is dark brown and thick, it could be due to hormonal disturbances caused by stress and anxiety.

6. Wet And Runny
If your earwax is extremely wet and runny, it could be a sign of eardrum damage and medical attention must be sought.

7. Bloody Earwax
If you notice traces of blood in your earwax, it could be a sign of eardrum damage or severe ear infection.
