We all know that too much of salt intake could cause high blood pressure. We also know about several other effects of salt but now a new study claims that salt can even affect liver!

Yes, this study claims that salt can also damage liver even in adults. When researchers exposed mice to high levels of salt content, they observed signs of liver fibrosis. We all know that fibrosis is the initial phase of scarring of the liver.
To function normally, human beings need certain amount of salt. But too much of it is the problem. In fact, without salt, water retention and management is difficult in the body. But at the same time, heavy consumption could nearly kills us in the long run say researchers.
This study says that several changes occur in the liver due to excessive consumption. The shape of the liver cells may undergo changes, some cells may even die and liver fibrosis may also occur.

The study finally says that vitamin C could help treat the damaged cells in the liver up to an extent. Now, let us discuss about the effects of salt on health.

Risk Of Stroke
The risk of suffering stroke may drastically increase in those who consume too much of salt through their diet.

Bloated
As salt retains water in your system, you tend to feel bloated when your salt intake is too much.

Kidney Issues
If your blood pressure gets impacted, your kidneys tend to suffer as the blood supply to them may get impacted.

Your Blood Pressure Increases
As water retention may also spike your blood pressure, excessive salt intake could raise your BP.

Heart Issues
Researchers have always been telling that there is a link between heart issues and salt intake. Therefore, it is better to consume salt moderately.

Brain
High BP may also impact your brain and cognitive abilities. This is one of the effects of salt on your health.

Addiction
As salty foods are tasty, you tend to get addicted to them and this may get you unwanted calories.
