Ways To Make Walking Fun & Lose Weight
We all desire to be fit and healthy. A well-toned body is what everybody wants to have. But merely wanting something does not help us achieve that. What is required is some action. The desire has to be backed with a persistent and consistent effort. And this is where the problem lies. We take up a fitness regime with a lot of excitement and zeal, but soon this enthusiasm dies out and we move back into our comfort zones.
Walking is a simple exercise that can be performed by all and at any place. There is no particular tool or machine required for this, but we tend to lose interest in this too. If we know how to make walking fun, this fire of fitness can be kept burning always.

Walking for weight loss is what most of us do. In fact, we tend to move towards an exercise only when we realise that we are putting on excess weight.
Excessive body weight has many disadvantages apart from giving you a shabby look. In order to shed the excess weight and maintain a healthy body, walking can be one of the easiest exercises. As this too can become monotonous and boring, it would help to look for means to make this exercise a little more fun.

Get a partner: Getting a walking partner is the best way to go for a walk. While you chit-chat along the way, the distance is covered. In all your conversation, you will never realise how much you have walked. Long walks become easy with the presence of a friend.
Walk outdoors: This can be a bit difficult in large cities but there is no harm in exploring. If you have a nice outdoor setup where you can walk, there can be nothing more refreshing than a cool and clean morning walk. You can see the sun rising, the sky changing colour and the birds beginning to chirp.

Intersperse with running and jogging: Try to intersperse your walks with jogs and small running bursts. This helps to pump up the metabolism of the body and burn extra calories. And your body goes on shedding calories even after you have completed your walk.
Choose different locations: Walking in the same place every day can turn out to be pretty boring. It is for this reason that many people join a gym but fail to continue. If you have the facility, try taking up different locations for your walk. It keeps the interest alive and helps you explore new places.
Choose different terrains: While walking for weight loss, try to bring about a variety by walking over different terrains. Some days can be walks along plains, while some days can be a climb up a hill. Climbing stairs will also be an interesting thing to do.

Listen to music: Music can bring about a big difference to your mood. If you listen to your favourite tracks while walking, you will enjoy your time and cover distances without feeling exhausted.
Get an audio book: How to make walking fun? Listen to an audio book. It is like listening to a story and who does not like a story? It is just like reading a book and getting absorbed in it. While the story progresses, you cover distances with least efforts.
Set challenges: To achieve something, you need to set goals and challenges. Without a challenge, it will be like walking in a desert with nothing to look forward to.
