Stop Your Sweet Cravings Today!
Many of us out there possess what is commonly known as a sweet tooth. We are out shopping and it is never complete until we stop at least twice at a café to enjoy a couple of pastries.
While being fond of sweets is perfectly normal, what is scary is indulging in too much of it! Let's have a reality check, shall we? Think about all the food items and beverages that you consume in a day.

It becomes a little difficult to stop craving for sweets when we begin every morning with large doses of sugar! There is sugar in your morning tea, there's sugar in your kesari bhat, in prasadam, in pastries, in kheer (payasam), ice creams, milk, also add at least 3 to 4 more cups of tea or coffee, café food and of course the sweets in a box placed on your table that you enjoy eating at any time of the day! Now really try calculating the amount of sugar that goes into us directly or indirectly each day.
And I won't even go into the depth of explaining how much sugar we consume when we are sad, angry or anxious. Let's just say that in no time the entire pack of chocolates or an average sized box of ice cream goes down our throats.
Sure, the taste of sugar releases endorphins that calms us in times like these but if you are the one who cannot go through a day without gulping sweets every now and then, then my friend lets curb it because too much sugar is not good for you.
Let's look into some ways we can control our sugar cravings.

Increase Protein Intake
Sugar contains carbohydrates, an energy booster, but when it is not backed by proteins or fats, the energy boost it provides stays only for a little while and soon leaves you craving for more. So when your body is craving for carbs, treat yourself with an egg or a bowl of pulses and consequently your craving will subside.

Watch Your Food
If you are the one who over consumes sugar, be wary of what you eat. If it is too tough for you to say no to a sweet then take a small bite but don't push yourself further, or even better, fulfill your cravings smartly!
If you love chocolate syrup then dip a banana into it and enjoy. It will not only curb your yearning for sweet but will also give you the nutritional benefits. Eat gourmet ice cream instead of light ice cream, you will get the taste and sugar consumption will be low too.

Distract Yourself
When you feel yourself longing for that badam burfi box on your table, distract yourself. Whether it is watching T.V., reading an interesting magazine, or even taking a nap. Distraction can curb your sweet craving instantly.

Look For Fruits Instead
Fruits are the best alternative for sweets. When you know you are going overboard with you sweet love, switch to fruits. This is one of the best ways to stop that sweet cravings. Fruits are sweet and yet wholesome and never enemies of your health. They contain fibre, vitamins, minerals and enzymes, all of which neutralize the bad effect of fructose and glucose on your metabolism. Also, the fibre in fruits slows down the absorption rate of sugars so you don't get too much of a sugar high.
