Menopause is yet another phase in a woman's life that is very difficult to deal with. You might be happy to get rid of the monthly menstrual cycle, but menopause can bring along some health conditions like hormonal imbalance and weight gain.
Weight gain during menopause is a very common problem many women face. The average woman puts on 4-5 pounds during menopause, but it actually depends on the hormones. There are some women who put on 10-15 pounds during menopause. So, weight gain can be really depressing at this point.
To prevent weight gain during menopause, you need to stay very focused on your diet and lifestyle. For example, cutting down fatty and fried foods is a must. Moreover, you need to know how to deal with your food cravings. Food cravings during menopause are very similar to the ones that women face during pregnancy.
Apart from working on your diet, you also need to workout. It improves blood circulation, helps you deal with mood swings and most importantly, prevents weight gain during menopause. If you are at your menopausal stage, here are few ways to prevent weight gain.

Stay Active
During menopause, you might feel lazy and tired. This can lead to weight gain. Break this laziness by doing something that keeps you active. For example, go on a walk or swim every day.

More Workout
It is time to increase the workout duration a little more. If you are working out for 30 minutes, increase it to 45-50 minutes per day.

Focus On Waist And Stomach
During menopause, you tend to put on more weight at your waist and stomach. So, focus on exercises that work on these body parts. Sit up and squats are ideal exercises to do during menopause.

Vitamin B Rich Foods
To prevent weight gain during menopause, you must have Vitamin B rich foods like bananas, cereals, turkey, lentils and potatoes. The vitamin is also beneficial for reducing menopausal symptoms like cramps, mood swings and tiredness.

Skip Fried Foods
Fried foods are only rich in unwanted calories and cholesterol. To prevent weight gain during menopause, skip fried foods and have low cal foods.

Eat Vegetables
Vegetables are rich in vitamins, nutrients and minerals which are required by the woman's body. Have vegetables in the form of salads and soups. You can steam, stir-fry or boil them.

Avoid Soy
Some say that soy is required during this stage while many disagree with this saying. They say soy lowers thyroid function. So, be on the safer side by replacing it with other healthy substitute.
