Causes n Signs Of Yeast Infections
Yeast infection is a general infection that can affect the mouth, skin or genitals of a person. It is one of the most common genital infections among women. Also known as vaginal yeast infection, this is an infection that occurs in the vagina due to the overgrowth of Candida albicans (yeast organisms).
This is not a dangerous vaginal infection as women most commonly suffer from it. There are few signs that can make it easy to track yeast infection. But, you should know the causes of this vaginal infection before that.

Causes of yeast infection:
- The vagina has many healthy bacteria that can have yeast. The healthy bacteria keep the vagina acidic and prevents the production of candida albicans. However, if the yeast bacteria overgrows, it can cause vaginal yeast infection.
- Imbalance in the production and breathing of bacteria is also one of the causes of yeast infection. The imbalance can be due to hormonal changes, certain medications like steroids or a weakened immune system.
- Increase in estrogen levels also cause this vaginal infection. The sudden rise in estrogen levels can be due to pregnancy or birth control pills.
- Unhygienic genitals can be another cause of yeast and other vaginal infections like UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). You should clean your genitals in 'up to down' method (from vagina to anus). This prevents the bacteria from entering the vaginal tract.
- Soap or body wash with strong fragrance and chemical content can cause vaginal yeast infection in women. There are natural and healthy bacteria that keep the vagina clean. Strong fragrance can lead to overgrowth of yeast bacteria.
Signs of yeast infections
- Itching: If you suffer from lot of itching, it can be a clear sign of yeast infection. If you itch once, the itching becomes severe and even after washing the genitals, the itching doesn't reduce.
- Burning vagina: Burning after urination can be a sign of many infections. If its vaginal yeast infection, the vagina will burn. Drink lots of water and observe for sometime. This is because, dehydration also leads to vaginal burn.
- Thick white discharge: This is one sign that is followed by itching and burning in the vagina. A thick cheese like white discharge can also be a sign of vaginal yeast infection.
- Pain: Pain in the vulvar or redness in the vaginal tract can be symptoms of yeast infection.
Ways to cure vaginal yeast infections:

- Do not wear wet or damp undies.
- Keep the vagina clean and dry.
- Always wipe form the front to the rear.
