Stress Buster Now Found In Pets

No matter what else adds on to the list pets in themselves are a great stress buster. According to a recent research rabbits as pets of women make a marked difference in their stress level. According Professor Rebecca Johnson, when women stay in company of rabbits, a marked difference can be seen in their stress hormone cortisol.
Stress can also be a major reason for heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases. Baken Medical Research Institute in Australia did a study on 6,000 people and had noticed a marked difference in their blood pressure levels and cholesterol of people who had pets. Pets is a stress buster and thus, only with the lowering of the stress level, their blood pressure and cholesterol was noticed to be normal. A study conducted in University of Minnesota have also proved pets to be a great stress buster. Neurologigy proffesor, Adnan Qureshi, has said that people who have cats as pets are less exposed to cardiovascular diseases. He has reported 40% less risk of heart attack among people who own a cat.
According to Dr Deborah Wells, senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Belfast, pets help in enhancing self esteem. Most of the time people who cannot speak out their problems to others or cannot cry out in front of others, feel comfortable in doing so in front of their pets. This is extremely true for children. Children who are bullied or facing the early school blues often take make their pets their best friends. This prevents people from depression.
In case of divorce and social problems, pets have always proved to be of great help. They keep the person occupied and it has been noticed that human beings are most comfortable when they are around pets and are themselves. Pets also have health benefits. According to a research, one of the major benefits of of having pets is that they enhance human immune system. Thus, have a pet, your best stress buster.
