Many of us complain about not being able to sleep well during the night. This might be due to stress, insufficient food, overeating or even due to a particular snacks before bed.

Having a snack before bedtime, might make you feel very happy and satisfied. But not all snacks have a positive effect on your well-being and might ruin your healthy diet plan too. However, do not loose heart as we offer you a list of food stuffs you have to avoid and also suggest an alternate healthy snack before bedtime.

Chinese: Too lazy to prepare something, so picked up the phone and ordered some Chinese food instead? Well, then you can as well say good bye to our sleep and your diet plan. But do not be disheartened. You can orders the Chinese food, sans the sauces and MSG. Get some steamed veggies and rice, that are comforting and filling and nutritious too.

Chocolate: How can we forget the all time snack, a chocolate? It is high in sugar, contains caffeine and is just not right for a snack before going to bed. So what's the substitute? Whip up an egg-white with a tablespoon of chocolate protein powder and microwave for about 1 ' minutes and satisfy your urge to consume a tasty treat, without having to worry about sugar or caffeine! Having fresh berries with cottage cheese is also a great option for ones with a sweet-tooth.

Milk: Milk has been known to induce sleep. However, many of us may not be tolerant towards milk and might end of staying awake, in spite of having a warm glass of milk. Drinking milk might lead to digestive problems or make you hungry at the dead of the night. Substitute this with a lactose-free protein shake.

Pizza: A pizza with your favourite topping sounds perfect for bedtime snacking. But it adds to calories and ruins your diet plan. If you are counting on accumulating protein, they have a couple of hard boiled eggs, which would fill your stomach and give you the right dosage of protein too.

Pasta: This is the next food stuff that has to be avoided before hitting the sack. Though pasta is a good source of carbohydrates, it builds up the fat in your body. Instead of having pasta, opt for a spaghetti squash, which has almost the same flavour and texture.
