Creative interventions like dance therapy will help the nursing and elder care professionals to reduce the detrimental burden caused by falls, says Jean Krampe from Sinclair School of Nursing.

The researchers used The Lebed Method (TLM), a dance therapy program, by which they included a combination of low impact dance steps choreographed to music. The sessions were adjusted to fit the specific needs of the who participated the program. The sessions were also certified by the TLM instructors.

There were total 18 dance sessions, included for the study.

The seniors enjoyed the sessions and wanted to continue the program. They told that it could increase their walking speed and balance, which are two major risk factors for falling.
