Nature has its own way in curing ailments. Natural products despite curing ailments do not impose side effects on the health. The remedy to various common ailments and health disorders can be found on your spice rack. Ginger not only adds spice to your food but also has its contribution in curing ailments.
Ginger plays multifarious roles in treating different ailments effectively. It is an efficient medicine to treat headaches, stomach upsets, coughs and menstrual cramps. You will be quite surprised to know that it helps in the treatment of cancer too.
Ginger is an age-old remedy for treating ailments. Its authenticity is found in Ancient Indian Ayurveda. It was an accepted medicine globally even in the olden days. The ancient Greeks resorted to eating ginger wrapped in bread for digestion after a heavy meal. Eventually it evolved into gingerbread. The Chinese chewed ginger to ward off seasickness.
The Role Of Ginger In Treating Different Diseases

two
group

compounds
known
as
Shogoals
and
Gingerols
control
nausea.
Ginger
acts
directly
on
the
stomach
instead
of
the
central
nervous
system
thereby
not
inducing
drowsiness
or
dry
mouth
in
the
patient.
Ginger
however
is
not
recommend
for
morning
sickness.
The
German
Herbal
Experts
known
as
'Commission
E'
have
stated
that
ginger
is
an
effective
medicine
for
preventing
motion
sickness.
Studies
have
proved
that
a
gram
of
ginger
was
better
in
preventing
motion
sickness
than
100
milligrams
of
Dramamine.
Ginger taken half an hour before traveling helps in preventing motion sickness.
Indigestion
Ginger
is
said
to
stimulate
the
flow
of
bile
from
the
gallbladder
that
helps
in
digestion.
It's
an
effective
carminative
(relives
gas
and
its
pain)
and
its
muscle
relaxing
action
helps
in
bringing
relief
to
menstrual
cramps
and
indigestion.
Ginger also relieves bloating and gas. Ginger taken before a meal helps to prevent the symptoms of indigestion whereas taken after the food helps in digestion.
Cough
A
cup
of
ginger
tea
stimulates
the
secretion
of
mucus
to
quiet
cough
and
to
sooth
the
scratchiness
owing
to
coughing.
It is believed that ginger can also help in treating multiple ailments like gastric ulcers, colds, rheumatism, gout, sexual deficiencies, allergies, heart problems and high cholesterol.
Ginger in future may also be used in the treatment of cancer, as the mice that were injected with ginger extract developed fewer skin tumours than those that were not injected. The only side effect is that it prolongs the clotting time of blood.
However it is said that most of the assertions regarding ginger's role in curing ailments are based on the observations or limited studies carried out on small animals. Clinical studies with people are yet to be done to verify these facts.
However ginger still has its own place in home remedies for curing minor ailments.
