Coping stress
In every walk of our life we are subjected to a wide range of pressure. At the same time we also have a wide range of resources and strategies for coping with pressure. It has physical and emotional effects on us and creates positive or negative feelings. There are times when we cope well and feel that the pressures have no adverse effect upon us but the situations sometimes are such that there is a difficulty in coping with problems. The word 'Stress' is used to describe the feeling we are going through. It may lead us to have negative feelings of depression, anger and distrust and lead to many health problems. Life is a continuous readjustment under different circumstances and stress plays a role, which may hinder or help according to the given situation and the way we react.
It is better to notice your stress rather than suppressing it. It is important to recognize how your body responds to stress. Whether you become nervous or physically you become upset. Then you should take the steps to reduce the intensity, gradually over a period of time. Take it easy and shorten the exposure to the stress environment.
The reaction under a stressful situation is harsh then maybe you are reacting to it in an exaggerated manner. Perceiving the difficult thing as a danger you may overreact, which will surely lead to a disaster. Try and cope with it rather than empowering over it. Keep in the mind that you will not always be successful in all critical situations.
The physical fitness and mental stability is very much needed in tackling stressful times. Exercising, eating a right kind of food, maintaining a stable weight, a proper sleep and appropriate sleeping habits will help you have a voluntary control on the mind. Slow and deep breaths will help you have a normal blood pressure level. There are a lot of relaxation techniques, which will help you gain a hold at appropriate times.
The best way to tackle stress is by knowing the key points like how effectively you carry out yourself under pressure, the main thing that triggers your stress, to watch out how effective your stress control strategies are. Thinking rationally and having a positive approach should become a platform on which one should start working to tackle stress. Many a times it is such that only upon thinking rationally you will find that there is no proper basis for the negative points you have had although. Then move on to have a positive thinking and slowly answering all the questions like could you achieve the set goals by yourself, how much of control you have over your physical and mental strength, how capable are you, the level of respect you have of yourself and the confidence level you have in believing others.
It is important to learn from the mistakes one has done and to make conscious efforts to work on a realistic platform. In the first place set goals, which are on realistic grounds. Then emphasize on rational and go on to approach your goal through positive thinking. Deadlines, competitions, confrontations, and even our frustrations and sorrows add depth and enrichment to our lives. Our goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how to manage it and how to use it to help us.
