Vishu 2023: Did You Know These Benefits Of Kanikonna (Golden Shower Tree)?
Vishu 2023 will fall on 15 April and will mark the beginning of the Malayalam New Year. Vishu is a major festival celebrated in Kerala, India and is one of the most important festivals of the year. As per the Malayalam calendar, it is celebrated as the first day of the month of Medam and marks the start of the vernal equinox.

Vishu celebrations begin at dawn with the traditional custom of viewing the Vishu Kani, which contains auspicious items like raw rice, kanikonna (golden shower tree), coins, and other symbolic items.
Kanikonna or the golden shower tree is synonymous with the Vishu celebration - being a Malayali, when I was young, to see Kanikonna would mean Vishu is around the corner - I'm sure my fellow Malayalis agree!
