Which Is The Best Time To Drink Milk According To Ayurveda?
Milk occupies a special place in Ayurveda. It is heralded for its nutritional properties that we cannot get from any other food item. It aids in digestion, provides nutrition and helps in balancing doshas in the body.
According to Ayurveda, a human body is made up of one of the three doshas – Kapha, Pitta and Vatta. Many of the ailments occur when these doshas are imbalanced.

Drinking milk also promotes Ojas. Ojas is referred to as a state in Ayurveda that is achieved when you achieve proper digestion. So, milk is an important part of our diets, especially for those following a vegetarian diet.

According to Ayurveda, the way milk is consumed, and when it is consumed, plays a big role in digestion.
Ice cream and cold milk are difficult for your tummy to digest, whereas if you add spices such as haldi, adrak (ginger) or ilaychi (cardamom) to warm milk, it becomes excellent for your digestive system to absorb it.
These spices added in the milk can help in reducing imbalanced Kapha and aid in digestion.
Going by Ayurveda, the best time to drink milk is during the night.

Let’s see how consuming milk at different times during the day affects us, according to Ayurveda.

Night: In accordance with Ayurveda, drinking milk at night is the best time for anyone. It helps in removing stress and tiredness, and helps in getting a good night’s sleep.
Milk is packed with calcium and due to the low activity levels in the night, calcium is easily absorbed in the body .Packed with proteins, it is also beneficial for those trying to gain body mass.
However, there are some exceptions to it too. One should take into consideration these facts while consuming milk.

Facts To Consider While Consuming Milk
Milk is packed with essential nutrients and comes with so many benefits. However, there are some people who are lactose intolerant. In that case, milk should be completely avoided.
Warm milk relaxes your body, aids in sleep and cures your constipation, whereas drinking cold milk in the night or combining it with unsuitable food items like melons or banana can cause digestion problems, cough, and allergies..
Milk should never be combined with salt, as both of them have exactly the opposite qualities.

You should always consume warm milk after the meal, as consuming it during the meal makes it difficult to be digested.
Milk should be avoided in case you are suffering from worms, diarrhoea, fever or skin conditions.
One can achieve good health if one consumes milk properly, at the correct time and keeps the above pairing rules in mind, as suggested by Ayurveda.
