Rasam is a familiar name in South India as it is a part of almost every meal. The actual meaning of rasam is fluid. And yes, it is a fluid with medicinal properties and is consumed as a dish along with rice.

As it contains ingredients like tomatoes, tamarind, turmeric powder and coriander, their medicinal properties boost your health.
Its spicy taste makes it a pleasure to consume it with rice. If you aren't a rice eater, you have the option to enjoy it like a soup. It is very easy to prepare and is very good for digestion. If you have digestive issues, enjoy a cup of rasam every morning.
What You'll Need: Tomatoes, tamarind, turmeric powder, rasam powder, coriander leaves, curry leaves, asafoetida, mustard and cumin seeds.
How To Prepare: Fry tomatoes in a teaspoon of oil and add a glass of water once they are fried. Then add a small quantity of tamarind, a pinch of turmeric powder, a tea spoon of rasam powder and a pinch of salt. Allow all of them to boil on low heat for 15 minutes.

Fry mustard seeds and cumin seeds in another pan and add a pinch of asafoetida powder to it. Add them to the rasam water. Now, add curry leaves and coriander leaves to the rasam and remove it from the stove.

If you have just recovered from a fever and is not in a mood to eat anything heavy, a small quantity of rice with rasam will be safer on your stomach. Consult your doctor.

The antioxidants present in rasam help keep your skin healthy. They prevent your body from free radical damage.
