Happy Birthday Aditya Roy Kapur: All About His Fitness Lifestyle And Secret Behind His Sculpted Physique
Aditya Roy Kapur has had an interesting career arc. He started out as a VJ, moved into films with supporting roles, and then suddenly became a name everyone recognised after Aashiqui 2. Over the years, he has shifted between romantic dramas, intense characters, and recently, high-energy action roles. What's stayed constant is the way he turns himself into whatever the role needs often through serious physical preparation. On his birthday today, it's a good time to look at what really goes into his fitness, beyond the shirtless scenes and gym clips.
His Training Is Beyond Lifting Weights
Aditya trains 5-6 days a week, and for certain roles he has gone up to two sessions a day. His workouts are not fixed to one style, they rotate between weight training, bodyweight exercises, core work, cardio, and flexibility.
For 'The Night Manager', he trained under Robin Behl from The Tribe, working on strength mixed with functional training.
For 'Fitoor', he trained with Prashant Sawant and Praveen Nair, focusing heavily on sculpting work and dropping body fat to around 7%.
And then there are roles like 'OM: The Battle Within', where he added martial arts - Kung Fu and Tai Chi and spent about two hours daily preparing for action sequences. He also puts a lot of emphasis on leg training, and he's often said that he never skips leg day.
His Diet Changes With Every Role
There's no single "Aditya Roy Kapur diet." He adjusts depending on the characters he has to play.
For 'OM', he followed a no-oil diet packed with protein, brown rice, and sweet potatoes and the only thing he allowed himself as a sweet treat was diet coke.
For 'Fitoor', he ate six small meals spaced through the day: oats and eggs in the morning, lean meats with brown rice or quinoa through the afternoon, and fish or chicken with vegetables at night.
He's clear about one thing: extreme starvation diets don't work. He prefers structured meals and steady training.
He's Honest About The Mental Side
Aditya doesn't sugarcoat the mental effort that fitness demands. He loves food, and sticking to a strict plan doesn't come naturally. He has also admitted he doesn't always feel great about his body and has days when he feels unattractive.
Transformations take a toll especially the ones for action roles. He once said he had to "give up life" for 'OM' because every day revolved around training, diet, and recovery.
He has cheat days, but even those come with a small confession: having just "one or two scoops of ice cream" doesn't feel worth it.
Consistency Is the Only Real Secret
He isn't someone who's always in peak shape. He openly says he goes through phases where he doesn't train at all. But he always comes back to it, and when he's preparing for a film, he is extremely disciplined.
His trainers often change up his routine so his body doesn't hit a plateau, and he stays motivated by trying something new - action training, sculpting, or flexible movement.
Why Fans Connect With His Fitness Journey
Aditya's appeal is not only his good physique. It's the relatability behind it.
- He doesn't pretend it's easy.
- He admits he struggles.
- He admits he loves food.
- He admits he has off (cheat) days.
For many people, that honesty makes his fitness journey feel much more real and far more inspiring.
As Aditya Roy Kapur celebrates his birthday today, his career continues to evolve, and so does his approach to fitness. What stands out is not just the physical changes he makes for his films, but the mindset behind it - disciplined when he needs to be, flexible when he can be, and always willing to push himself when the role demands more. Whether he's doing martial arts for an action film or working on a sculpted look for a romantic drama, he brings the same steady commitment that has shaped his journey so far.
