What Are The Symptoms And Cure For Anaemia?
Anaemia comes from a Greek word which means without blood. It is an ailment where there is a lack of red blood cells or haemoglobin. There are a number of signs and symptoms which will tell you that you are suffering from anaemia and there are ways to cure it.
Deficient red blood cell generation is known as haematopoisis. To create red blood cells, the body needs iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid, among other stuff. If there is a lack of more than one of these substances, anaemia will develop.

Anaemia goes undetected in several individuals and symptoms may also be quite vague. If a person is normally healthy, signs only appear after the hemoglobin level drops below 10g/dl.
In case the anaemia becomes severe, there will be angina, headache and leg pain. A word of caution here is that iron deficiency may in rare cases cause long-term changes to the mucosa in the throat and diseases like leukaemia, piles and stomach cancer.

When you have anaemia, you will have a rapid heart rate, a pale skin, brittle nails and can also suffer from haemorrhoids. You will start feeling weak all the time and sometimes find it difficult to get out of bed.

Anaemia can be cured with a better diet or by taking iron or folic acid supplements. Include rich sources of iron in your diet like red meat, fish, egg yolk, shellfish and poultry. Iron from each of these sources is easily absorbed in the intestines.

Iron from plant foods include lentils, dry fruits, nuts and seeds, figs, dates, dry apricots, beetroot, raisins, leafy green veggies like spinach, whole grains, cereals and breads, peas and legumes.
Other sources of dietary iron include green leafy vegetables, tofu, garbanzo beans and strawberries. Stick to a healthful, balanced diet and make sure that your food contains good sources of iron and folic acid. Coffee, tea along with other caffeine beverages must be avoided since they reduce iron absorption.
