Do You Know Why Your Having Painful Intercourse?
Painful intercourse is one of the many problems most women suffer from. Though this is not an alarming health problem, if ignored and if the pain still persists, it can be quite a problem. According to health experts, sexually active women should make it a point to visit their gynaecologist at least thrice in a year.
This little trip to the doctor can put an end to all your problems with regards to your menses, child birth and sexual health. Women are the one's who suffer the most when it comes to having an intercourse. The reason why you are having painful intercourse is because of an infection in the vagina or you could be suffering from either ovarian cysts or endometriosis.
Ignoring these two latter health problems can be dangerous and could result in further complications. Therefore, if you are experiencing a pain during or after an intercourse, it is best to consult your doctor at the earliest and run a few tests. In the mean time, take a look at some of the causes of a painful intercourse, you might recognise a few symptoms or signs related to your existing problem.

Dry Vagina
A dry vagina can make you squeal in pain during intercourse. The main reason for a dry vagina could be due to medication or high amounts of stress. If you are having a dry vagina after child birth, it can be one of the side effects. However, in older women, a dry vagina indicates the onset of menopause. A change in your lifestyle can help this problem fade away.

Due To Infections
The main cause behind a painful intercourse can be a vaginal infection. Genital infections like a yeast infection, trichomoniasis and genital herpes can make your life a living hell during and after intercourse. Therefore, seek medical assistance to treat the infection at the earliest.

Right After Childbirth
Intercourse pain normally occurs right after you've had a baby via natural birthing. The reason behind the pain is probably due to the episiotomy and vagina being extra sensitive. Therefore, give yourself some time to heal before going under the sheets.

PMS Time
Painful intercourse may usually occur if intercourse is had one or two days before the menses. This is because the gential area is sensitive and due to the cramping and abdominal pain, intercourse becomes all the more painful instead of pleasurable.

Due To Painful IBS
Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, can cause a throbbing pain during sex, especially if you have other common symptoms such as intestinal cramping during periods, constipation or diarrhoea.

It Burns Like Fire
Does the labia burn like fire at the time of an intercourse? If yes, this means that labia is inflamed and the main cause of this minor problem can be due to harmful chemical products like soaps and lotions. Hence, it is best to avoid using chemically treated products on the genital area.

Ovarian Cysts
If you are witnessing a throbbing pain during an intercourse or a penetration, and if the area feels super sensitive and numb, it could be an indication of ovarian cysts. To confirm this problem, visit a specialist and get yourself tested.

It's An Endometriosis Problem
Painful intercourse should not be ignored, if the problem persists for a long duration of time. Sometimes, painful intercourse could be the cause of an endometriosis problem. This is a condition where the tissue, that lines the uterus, starts to grow in other areas causing pain during penetration.
