World Environment Day Spl: Health Hazards Of Pollution
Environmental pollution is an issue that has become very mundane for us. It is something we just don't pay much attention because we are living with it every moment. Actually, we are behaving like the frog which doesn't realise that the pot of water it is sitting in is slowly getting hotter. And by the time the frog realises it is too hot to be sitting in, the boiling water kills it. The health effects of environmental pollution will kill us if we do not pay heed to them today. On World Environment Day, let us recap the things that we need to pay attention to.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY: THINGS TO RECOUNT
June 5 is celebrated every year as World Environment Day. On this special day, we should take the time out to see in what way the environment affects us all. There are many health effects of environmental pollution that cause serious diseases in human beings. The health effects of air pollution alone can cause more than 100 diseases and allergies in human beings.
It will be difficult to explain the magnitude of what the environment can do to us unless you are faced with hard facts. Every part of your body is being poisoned by the effects of pollution every second as you breathe and yet, we seem to take no notice of it. Here are some health hazards that you need to be retold about on World Environment Day.

Headache & Fatigue
Did you know that common problems like headaches and fatigue can be caused due to pollution? Noise pollution can damage your brain cells to make you feel tired all the time and you will also have perpetual headaches as your nerve endings throb.

Lung Cancer
These days, the pollution level in cities are so high, it is almost like smoking. So even if you are a non-smoker, you stand the risk of getting lung cancer and other diseases that was earlier affecting only smokers.

PCOD
Poly cystic ovaries is a disease that makes a woman have irregular menstruation and often renders her infertile. This too happens when your body is full of toxins. You eat bad polluted food or hybrid food that ends up spoiling your reproductive system.

Metal Poisoning
It has been seen that people, living in areas near factories using silicon and asbestos, develop cancer, skin diseases and often die of septicemia (blood poisoning). This happens because of exposure to the poisonous metals that poison your body over a period of time.

Bronchitis
Bronchitis is just one of the many lung and respiratory disorders you may develop when you are living in such high levels of pollution. Your lungs get affected by air pollution and all the harmful chemicals you are inhaling on a daily basis.

Melanoma
Melanoma or skin cancer is a direct impact of the depletion of the ozone layer. The ozone layer in turn is damaged due to air pollution and the tremendous amounts of aerosols we releases into the atmosphere every day.

IBS
Irritable bowel syndrome is a gastric problem that happens to you because you eat toxic food and polluted water over a period of time. The hybrid foods that we are growing these days have less nutrition and more toxicity.

Dementia
The decibel levels of noise pollution are so high these days that it is enough to drive you crazy. It is a proven fact that the level of noise we live in plays a part in making us loose our marbles.

Asthma
Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease in which you get a choking feeling when you are exposed to something that you are allergic to. Children as young as a few months are showing signs of asthma these days.

Birth Defects
As we are exposed to all these toxic elements in the environment, it is being carried forward to the next generation too. The toxins are in our genes and result in terrible birth defects.
