The cone shaped, reddish brown organ which is found in the upper portion of the abdominal cavity is one of the important organs of the human body. The liver is supposed to be performing around 500 functions in the body. Some of the main functions of liver are production of bile that helps in the digestion process, production of some vital proteins, regulating haemoglobin in the blood, purifying blood and removing toxins from blood. Liver removes all the toxic material from the blood and flushes it out of the body through bile.

1.Yellow – The one prominent symptom of liver damage is the yellow colouration of eyes, skin and nails. The more prominent is the yellow colouration of urine. The yellow colour is basically due to the excess production of bile. Bile production can be higher because of inflammation, abnormality in liver cells and problem with the bile ducts. You need to visit a doctor as soon as you feel a yellow colouration in your body, eyes or urine.

2.Nausea –
Another symptom of liver damage is frequent nauseating feelings and vomiting. The excess bile production because of liver damage or liver failure can cause feelings of nausea. Sometimes, in rare cases, vomiting may be accompanied by blood. When recurrent sickness starts showing up, go to a doctor immediately. Liver damage is a serious matter and it should be looked after carefully.

3.Swollen abdomen – A major symptom of liver disorder that should never be avoided is a swollen abdomen. In this condition, the abdomen swells up due to hampered working of liver. The abdomen becomes rigid and bloated. This symptom shows up after major disorders in the liver take place. Do not ever ignore this condition as the patient is already critical at this stage.

4.Sleepiness –
Liver failure or malfunctioning of liver results in causing sleepiness in the patients. Patients do not respond well and will always feel dizzy. This symptom along with the other symptoms mentioned above can confirm severe damage to liver. Do not take these symptoms of liver damage lightly. A patient with liver damage is sleepy all the time.

5.Mental disorder –
This symptom shows up when the liver gets critically damaged. The brain functions starts getting affected due to the liver disorder. The brain does not respond quickly and the patient is always in a state of confusion. This is one severe symptom of liver damage. The patient should be immediately given medical attention once the mental disorder starts. Avoiding this symptom can also prove fatal for the patient.

6.Coma – The last symptom or the worst symptom of liver damage is coma. The patient immediately goes into coma if the above symptoms are ignored or avoided.
