Zinc Can Control Your Diabetes
Zinc is an essential mineral for the body. At least a dozen functions in the body cannot take place without the presence of zinc. Although this mineral in required in minute amounts, the deficiency of zinc is a very common disorder, especially among vegetarians. This is because zinc is not easy to come by in our regular food sources. The commonest side effect of zinc deficiency is hair fall and even premature baldness.
Recently, a connection has been found between zinc and diabetes. It is that the deficiency of zinc will cause diabetes. Diabetes is more or less a hereditary and lifestyle disorder. However Zinc can regulate diabetes. Zinc controls diabetes mainly by minimizing its effects on the body.

How Zinc Regulates Diabetes:
- Diabetes is a hormonal disorder. The malfunctioning of the insulin hormone is the main symptom of diabetes. Zinc is an essential element that is needed for hormonal balance of the body. Zinc regulates at least 300 different hormonal activities in the body. Thus zinc is a saviour for diabetics. A lot of the side effects of diabetes can be controlled using this mineral.
- Zinc improves the glycemic index of a human body. An abnormal spike or fall in the glycemic index is very dangerous for diabetics. That is why zinc helps people with diabetes maintain a stable blood sugar level.
- The first thing that diabetes affects is the immune system. And zinc regulates diabetes by improving the immune system. So, you don't come down with other ailments while suffering from diabetes.
- Diabetes also makes the healing system of the body weak. Wounds take a long time to heal and sometimes even a scratch can turn into an oozing wound. Zinc is an astringent and that is one of its many benefits. It helps wound heal faster and also prevents them from becoming septic.
- If diabetes goes beyond a point, it can effect the sex of men and also make them impotent. Zinc is one of the rare naturally occurring elements that can help men deal with impotence.
- Diabetes also causes other minor side effects like hair loss and damaging skin. Zinc helps you deal with both. It has already been mentioned that zinc helps treat hair loss. It also has an anti-ageing effect on the skin.
So, zinc regulates diabetes in several different ways. If you want to keep your diabetes under control, make sure your zinc levels are not low.
