Effect of Alcohol on Diabetes:
- Insulin is a drug that is generally given to people suffering from diabetes. Alcohol can interfere with the positive effects of insulin.
- Alcohol may increase triglyceride level in your blood. Triglycerides are fat laden cells that are also known as ugly fat cells by doctors. High triglyceride levels in the blood tends to co-exist with low levels of HDL (good) cholesterol, contributing to a serious condition called diabetes dyslipidemia.
- Alcohol stimulates your appetite, which can force you to overeat. Controlled diet plan is a must for people with diabetes. Overeating can cause your blood sugar level to rise significantly.
- Alcohol can cause nausea and increased heart rate.
- Alcohol can also increase your blood pressure. Studies have found that heath risks for people having high blood pressure along diabetes is twice then those who doesn't have diabetes.
