Effortless Ways To Lower Cholesterol
Now-a-days high cholesterol has grown up to become a major health problem among people and specially those in middle age. High cholesterol as most of us are aware increase the risk of heart attack and stroke and the risk heightens because of the fact that most of us are unaware about us having high cholesterol. When you check your cholesterol the borderline high risk is when it is between 200-239 mg/dL and it's high risk when the level is between 240 mg/dL and over. For a perfect balance the level of bad cholesterol should be below 100 and level of good cholesterol should be above 40.
Our body needs cholesterol, but the good one. Cholesterol is the waxy and fat like substance which is found in cells and is responsible for for the proper working of the body. It results in the creation of the hormones, Vitamin D and also enhances the digestive system. Cholesterol being a waxy substance do not mix in the blood and is oven carried by the blood stream in small amount called lipoprotein. When the amount of cholesterol increases, it builds up as lumps in the arteries, hindering the flow of blood to the heart and thus, resulting in heart attack. Thus, if you are a suffering high cholesterol it's important that you lower it. Here are some ways to lower high cholesterol -
1.Nuts - Nuts are one of the best ways to lower high cholesterol. Nuts control the absorption of excessive cholesterol in the intestine and also prevents it from hardening the arteries. Nuts promote the proper functioning of the blood streams. Nuts like walnuts, almonds, pecans, pistachios and pine nuts are the best. How nuts control cholesterol.
2.Soluble Fibers – Fibers are a great way to lower high cholesterol. Soluble fiber rich food like oatmeal, apples, pears and kidney beans prevent the absorption of cholesterol in the blood, thus preventing blood clotting. 10 grams of soluble fiber per day is enough.
3.Fish – Fish has the solution for all problems. Fishes which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, are the ones which should be consumed to lower high cholesterol level. The Omega-3 Fatty acids reduce blood clots, prevents stiffening of the arteries and also the creation of bad cholesterol. Fish like salmon, mackerel and herring are rich source of omega-3 fatty acids.
4.Garlic – The easiest and the most effective way to control cholesterol is the consumption of garlic. Garlic has been well known for it's heart benefits and also for it's ability to control high cholesterol. It has anti-bacterial properties which heal the artery infections and also prevents the thickening of the blood.
5.Grapefruit - It is also beneficial for cholesterol. Experiments have proved that grapefruit consumption controls cholesterol by 7% in just two months. Grapefruit is best eaten in the morning in empty stomach.
