Breast Cancer
British scientists from the Institute of Cancer Research, have now identified the enzyme which spreads the Breast cancer to other organs making it incurable. The sole way to cure Breast Cancer is to stop the enzyme from spreading the disease from one organ to the other.

The British scientists have discovered that the enzyme lysyl oxidase—like 2 —— or LOXL2, is the enzyme responsible for the spread of the Breast Cancer, as it allows the tumour to disease the surrounding tissues. They are thus, trying to create a drug which can stop the growth of this enzyme which results in spread of breast cancer. Dr Erler said, “Our study shows that inhibiting the action of LOXL2 can significantly reduce the spread of the cancer, suggesting that drugs which block this enzyme may be effective in preventing patients" cancer from spreading."

This discovery of the enzyme which spreads Breast Cancer is a break through in the study of cancer as, now by inventing a drug to stop the growth of the Enzyme, thousands of life can be saved every year. With medical advancement it can be cured but there is still no treatment to prevent the spread. 90% of the patients die due to spread of the disease.

Arlene Wilkie, Director of research Campaign, said, “Although we can treat cancer that has spread, we cannot cure it. This laboratory research shows great promise and we look forward to seeing how it translates into patients."
