Now Measure Blood Pressure In A Watch

This wristwatch which measures blood pressure is an invention by the scientists of the Leicester University and Singapore. The wristwatch to measure blood pressure is worn around the wrist and the sensors measure the pressure in the aorta, the main artery close to the heart. As the sensors are reading the level of BP from the main artery, it is accurate. The old method of measuring BP through a strap around the arm may not be accurate as the artery is far from the heart. The sensors in the wristwatch measure blood pressure by recording the pulse wave and then show the result on the monitor.
The wristwatch to measure blood pressure is believed to check the need for treatment and death rates of 50 to 60 million people around the world. Bryan Williams, professor of medicine at the University of Leicester, said, "It is not going to replace what we do overnight but it is a big advance. It is most likely to mean some people currently receiving treatment will not need it." The device still has to undergo a lost of research to ensure accuracy and is hopes to be available in the market widely across within two to three years of time.
