Frostbite Symptoms and Treatment At Home

To indulge in to a snow fight or to make a snow man is inevitable in winters. To listen the snow crunch under your feet feels lovely and specially if it's time which heralds the arrival of Christmas. But when it starts snowing heavily one of the major threats is that of frostbite.

Nose, cheeks, ears, fingers, and toes are usually affected. It is caused in extreme winters specially on place where it snows heavily. When one is exposed for a long time to extreme cold weather, the body sends signals to blood vessels in arms and legs to constrict. When this situation goes on for a long time it, it results in restricting the working of the blood cells and in extreme cases may even lead to cell damage. This condition is called frostbite.

Frostbite Symptoms

Frostbite symptoms usually start as a frost-nip and then builds up an irritation. Here are some symptoms -

1.Skin hardening
2.Shivering
3.Blisters
4.Pale skin
5.Extreme pain

Frostbite Treatment

Here are some home frostbite treatments which can give you relieve from the symptoms immediately only if they are administered at an initial stage. For more advanced stage, doctors advice should be taken.

1.Apply some mashed onions on the blisters. It cures swelling and itching.

2.Apply some soaked mullein flowers in olive oil, on the frostbitten area.

3.Aloe Vera is also a good medicine.

4.Potatoes should be eaten and mashed potatoes should be applied on the frostbitten area for quick cure.

5.Soak teaspoon of sage in hot water. After five minutes strain and drink it. This improves blood circulation. One can even soak the frostbitten area into the water.

6.Dab the affected area with some warm olive oil twice a day.

7.Dabbing the area with mustard area is also very helpful for blood circulation.

8.Put few drops of olive oil in your bath warm bath water. Soak yourself into it for quick cure.

9.Increase consumption of cayenne pepper. This is a good agent for the proper working of the nervous system.

These nine home treatment, can be followed along with medicines. This will act as an additional benefit to frostbite treatment.
