Contraceptive Pills
Gone are days when you took almond and milk every morning to boost your brain. Now the the same can be achieved by just popping in a pill. Scientists have found that contraceptive Pill has the potential to increase the gray matter inside your head to make you smarter.

A research has proved that contraceptive pills enhance the brain's ''conversation hub'' and improve memory in women. A study on 3.5 million British women who took contraceptive pills has shown considerable increase in brain size. The brain size had increased by around 3 per cent.

Scientists, who took high-resolution images of the brain, found that several areas in the brain looked larger for women who took the pill, irrespective of the brand or formulation of the drug, or how long it had been prescribed for. The areas of the brain which had increased in size were those which dealt with social skills and memory. Contraceptive pills thus play a major role in improving memory.

“The behavioural changes due to contraceptive use are likely to affect those skills that are already better developed in women compared to men like, for example, memory," said Dr Belinda Pletzer.

The reason of such effect on the brain is that the estrogen or progesterone used to stop eggs from being released also strengthens the links between nerve cells in the brain.
