After few hours of peaceful sleeping do you find your loved one wandering in the hall with a dazed and confused look? If you or your loved one has a sleepwalking disorder you're not alone. A recent statistics states that 18% of the world's population is prone to sleepwalking. Males are seen to be more likely to sleepwalk than females. One study showed that the highest prevalence of sleepwalking was 16.7% for children of 11 to 12 years of age. Sleepwalking
(Somnambulism
or
Noctambulism
)
is
a
sleep
disorder
in
which
a
person
walks
or
engages
in
other
activities
while
still
asleep
or
sleep
like
state.
Sleepwalking can affect people of any age. However highest prevalence of sleepwalking was seen in children of 11 to 12 years of age. It generally occurs when an individual awakes suddenly from deep sleep. While most sleepwalking incidents are short and not dangerous, some can involve self-injury and are much more dangerous for the sleeper.
