1. Intermittent fasting

During a Q&A on Instagram, Masaba stated that she follows intermittent fasting for weight loss and eats only two large meals a day, namely lunch and dinner. Masaba also stated that she sometimes snacks on nuts between meals.

The intermittent fasting diet consists of short periods of fasting, in which no food is consumed or calorie intake is significantly reduced, and long periods of unrestricted eating.

According to various studies, intermittent fasting can be a great next step in tackling insulin resistance, weight loss, and reducing stubborn belly fat if you have a known history of blood sugar imbalance, pre-diabetes, diabetes, or PCOS [1].

2. Prefers home-cooked food over eating-out

According to Masaba, her favorite meal is ghar ka khana (home-cooked meals), which consists mainly of rice, jowar or buckwheat roti, sabzi, and a small sweet dish.

3. Restricted dairy consumption

Masaba advises women with PCOS to avoid dairy products, refined sugar, and fried foods, as they trigger PCOD symptoms. While milk, paneer, cheese, and butter may be a regular part of most people's diet, they are not recommended for those with PCOS.

It is believed that dairy consumption leads to higher levels of insulin in women with PCOS as they are more likely to develop insulin resistance [2].

4. Fruit and vegetable juices

Masaba also suggested that she limit alcohol consumption and consume more vegetables and fruit juices.

Sharing her go-to recipe with everyone on Instagram, she wrote, "Take some ash gourd, juice it and add some Himalayan salt to it. It is really good to cool your body."

5. No fad diets

It is no secret that Masaba Gupta has never been a fan of fad diets. Fad diets are basically weight loss programs that promise drastic results in a short period of time, but they can even cause physical harm to you.

"A diet shouldn't be one you can hold only for a short period of time - it should be one you can sustain for life + no workout can fix a bad diet & no activity won't help a great diet," she added.

How To Lose Weight With PCOD?

An individual with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may suffer from a hormonal imbalance, irregular periods, insulin resistance, inflammation, and/or small cysts on either or both ovaries, making it difficult to lose weight [3].

The consumption of a balanced diet, which provides a good balance of whole foods, protein, healthy fats, and fiber may assist with weight loss. Certain supplements may also be helpful.
