Do Juice Diets Work?
With lifestyles going topsy-turvy and health concerns growing like never before diet plans are becoming increasingly popular. The improved communication facilities and access to information have brought about awareness among all – be it a small town or a large metropolitan city. Off late one trend that has been seen catching up is a juice diet plan.
What is a juice diet plan? True we all enjoy having juices but taking up a juice diet for weight loss is not something we would have come across till some years back. Today it is becoming pretty popular among dieters. The idea is to have juices throughout the day and abstain from any other kind of food intake. This could be for a day with intervals or a couple of days at a stretch.
ANTIOXIDANT FOODS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Well, the very mention of juice brings to mind fruit juices. However this is not just it. We can very easily include a host of vegetables as well. We could go for a combination of fruits and vegetables or have only vegetable juices. A juice diet plan intends to cleanse the body, reduce the intake of starchy foods, reduce weight and bring a glow to the skin. The aim of adopting a juice diet for weight loss is to have a healthy body but does it really work? Like any other diet plan this one too has various aspects related to it.

Facts about a juice diet plan
Be it a vegetable juice, a fruit juice or a combination they are either blended or juiced. Some require straining while some do not. They can be prepared in the raw state or after a slight blanching. Before you take up a juice diet plan for weight loss or any other purpose try considering the following points and then decide what is best for you.
Fiber force: All kinds of diet plans emphasize on the adequate intake of fibrous food. It helps maintain a healthy digestive system which is essential for good health. In cases of juices there are many which require straining which leaves them devoid of the fiber advantage.
Time tangling: Believe or not a juice diet plan can be quite a time consuming act. It might just sound as simple blending or juicing but the whole lot of preparation that goes into preparing that one glass of juice is quite a lot. Besides, that one glass of juice you have is not very filling and you will find yourself preparing juices at shorter intervals compared to preparing a full meal.
Money matters: A juice diet for weight loss has a tendency to make your pockets lose weight too. Fruits are expensive compared to vegetables. One glass of juice will call for much more quantity of fruits or vegetables than one would eat. The presence of a juicer and blender is a must.
Calorie count: It is true that juices are refreshing and help cleanse the system. If a juice diet plan is taken up for a day it can be fine but days at a stretch will not only rob you off fiber but will also prove to be a high calorie diet, especially an all-fruit juice. If you are having juices try to go for a vegetable juice, add an apple or kiwi to it and better still make a smoothie and add your favorite protein powder to it.
Extremes in every field are harmful. Juices are good for the body but not in excess. Try to maintain a moderate path; make use of a combination of fruits and vegetables; try to retain the pulp and fiber as much as possible and see your juice diet plan work wonders for you.
