If you are not losing weight in spite of putting in considerable effort then you might need to know the reason for it. Here are a few.

1. Improper Diet Plan: Your diet will be decided by the requirements of your body and not just your weight mass index. This plan would take into consideration your daily schedule, activities you perform on a daily basis and the nature of your work. If you go to the gym and snooze for the rest of the day then you will not lose weight with a normal diet. You need to consult a dietitian for the best diet plan for you.
2. The Breaking Point of Weight Loss: The 'breaking point' here is the point at which you start losing weight. When you start working out you will not lose weight immediately. First you lose water, then energy and eventually fats. The breaking point for different people varies. Some might start dropping kilos in 4 days some might not be losing weight even after 2 weeks! So you have to persevere until your body starts responding to exercise.
3. Common Exercise Plan: If you have been working out for a long time and doing the same exercises then your body will get used to those exercises. You need to change your exercise regime on a fortnightly or at least monthly basis. You also need to increase the resistance of your work out gradually for effects. 4. Proper mix of Cardios and Weight Training: Working out usually has these two sub divisions both of which are important. However, if your focus is rapid and proper weight loss then you must do 80 percent cardios like treadmill, elliptical walker, steps, cycling and spot jogging. Weight training is for toning of muscles so that the drop in the pounds shows on your body too.
5. Hormonal Imbalance: If you are you are not losing weight even after getting all the above factors right then there must be something intrinsically wrong with your body. If you have a hormonal imbalance like under functioning of thyroid glands then you will not lose weight either with exercise or diet. You have to go under medication and when the hormone levels are controlled you will lose wight naturally.
