Ramadan 2023: Can You Eat Dates In Summer?
Known for their high fibre and antioxidant content, dates are a fruit of the date palm tree. They have nutritional benefits that may contribute to brain health and possibly prevent disease.
Dates are generally small in size and range in colour from bright red to bright yellow, depending on the variety.

Commonly consumed varieties are Medjool and Deglet Noor dates. They are chewy and have a sweet taste and are high in some important nutrients. They have several advantages and uses as well.
Dates are commonly consumed as part of the pre-dawn suhour meal by Muslims who observe fasting [1].
Many Muslims consume dates as part of their fasting routine during the Ramadan season. Because of its high sugar content and its high fibre content, dates keep your energy levels high as well as making you feel full for a longer period, which is why they are commonly consumed both at iftar and at suhour.
Given that Ramadan is currently underway, let's examine whether eating dates during the summer is safe.
Can You Eat Dates In Summer?
The summer has already begun and temperatures are already rising. This is the time when you should consume foods that are cooling and hydrating. Dates produce heat in the body, which is why they are best consumed during the winter months. Is it possible to consume dates in the summer season?
When eating dates, it is important to moderate your intake. Never consume more than two to three pieces at a time, especially in summer. Experts recommend taking a balanced approach when eating dates [2].

Because dates produce a considerable amount of heat in the body, it is generally recommended that one does not consume more than two to three pieces a day.
However, if one suffers from an iron deficiency, they may consume up to three pieces a day. Although dates are perfect for the summer, it is important to consume them in moderate quantities [3].
The American Cancer Society recommends an intake of 20-35 grams of dietary fibre per day, and dates are one of the sweet and versatile foods that can help regulate the digestive process, which can be beneficial during the summer season [4].

How Many Dates To Eat Per Day?
As long as you do not overdo it, five to six dates per day are sufficient for your health. Dates contain some added sugar, so if you overdo it, you may end up with high blood sugar and diabetes.
