Over 40 Commonly Used Drugs Fail Latest Quality Test; Which Are They?
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation or CDSCO has flagged 48 commonly used medicines after failing the latest drug safety parameters in March. The drug regulator has published on its website the monthly list of medicines that did not meet the quality parameters in March out of 1,497 samples.

1449 samples were declared as of Standard Quality, according to the list [1]. An overall failure rate of over 3% was recorded among 1,497 samples tested by the country's top health regulator, including medicines used to treat blood pressure, diabetes, folic acid, multivitamins, antibiotics, and diabetes.

- Telmisartan tablets for hypotension manufactured by Ridley Life Sciences
- Domperidone Tablets anti-sickness medicine for nausea and vomiting manufactured by Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals
- Pioglitazone Hydrochloride tablets for type 2 diabetes manufactured by Skymap Pharmaceutical
- Domperidone tablets manufactured by Rivpra Formulation
- Gabapentin tablets for epilepsy manufactured by Synokem Pharmaceuticals and Mascot Health Series
- Rolled bandage by Disha Surgicals
- Dactinomycin for cancer chemotherapy injection
- USP 0.5 mg for seizures by Celon Laboratories
- Iron, folic acid tablets I.P. to treat or prevent folate deficiency and anaemia, manufactured by Nestor Pharmaceuticals

- Glenmark's Telma-AM tablet used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Meswak (Toothpaste for complete Tooth and Gum Care) manufactured by Dabur India Limited
- ALGLIMET M1 anti-diabetic drugs used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (Glimepiride 1 mg & Metformin 500 mg Tablets SR) manufactured by Alves Healthcare
- Pheniramine Maleate tablets to treat allergic rhinitis and pruritus manufactured by Dabur India Limited
- MEROXIA Nano injection 1 gm (Meropenem Injection I.P.) manufactured by Oscar Remedies
- Diphenhydramine HCl, Ammonium- Chloride and Sodium Citrate cough expectorant manufactured by Hindustan Laboratories

Furthermore, CDSCO's list includes medical devices and cosmetics that are either of poor quality or spurious, adulterated, or misbranded. Nonetheless, the items on the list were declared to be of poor quality.
