How Long Does It Take For Your Body To Digest Bubble Gum?
The oldest chewing gum is 5700 years old and was found in Denmark - it is made of birch pitch. In other words, chewing gum has been around since prehistoric times and has been able to endure centuries of change.
However, what about the chewing gum you accidentally swallowed? I remember when I was a child, there were rumours that a child had lost their lives as a result of swallowing bubble gum.

Let's retire the misconceptions because we are going to check the facts behind how long it takes for your body to digest bubble gum.
How Long Does It Take For Your Body To Digest Bubble Gum?
The time it takes for your body to digest bubble gum can vary greatly depending on the type of gum that is being consumed. Your body digests the bulk of the gum, including the sugar and the gum base, within about 24 hours, or in some cases, 2-3 days.
However, chewing gum's artificial flavouring and other artificial ingredients can take much longer to digest and may remain in your digestive system for several days or even weeks.
When you chew gum, your digestive system works to break down the sugar and the gum base. During this process, saliva helps soften the gum, allowing it to move through the digestive tract. The sugar in the gum is broken down into glucose, which is absorbed into the bloodstream [1].

The gum base, however, is too large to be absorbed, so it passes through the digestive system and is eventually eliminated. Artificial flavouring and other artificial ingredients, such as preservatives and emulsifiers, are much more difficult for your body to digest. These artificial ingredients take longer to move through the digestive system and can take several days to be eliminated.
Choose Natural Chewing Gum Over Artificial Ones
Natural chewing gum is made using plant-based ingredients such as chicle, latex, and natural resins, as well as natural sweeteners like honey and xylitol. These ingredients are designed to provide a flavourful and enjoyable chewing experience while avoiding the artificial ingredients and preservatives found in many other types of gum.
Natural chewing gum is typically free from sugar and many other unhealthy additives, making it a healthier option than traditional chewing gum.
On A Final Note...
It is important to remember that the amount of time it takes for your body to digest bubble gum will vary from person to person. Factors such as the type of gum and the amount being consumed will affect the digestion process.

Taking good care of your digestive system can help ensure that your body is better able to process and eliminate the gum.
Now that I think about it, maybe my mum didn't want me to chew gum when I was a kid; she really did play me!
