By Dr. Chandan Saurav Mahapatro, Consultant – Interventional Cardiologist, Manipal Hospital Hebbal

Cardiovascular disease is widely emerging as a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Its significance is higher in South Asian countries, particularly in India, where health, healthcare facilities, and the rising population burden has impacted the proper management of such diseases.

Cardiovascular health is very important.

Cardiovascular Health in Different Life

Studies have demonstrated that prenatal and childhood exposures are consistently associated with cardiovascular health trajectories from childhood through adulthood and throughout the stage of an individual's life.

Cardiovascular health measured at any point of life, is strongly predictive of future cardiovascular disease, dementia, cancer, mortality, and a variety of other healthcare outcomes. This highlights the importance of early intervention to prevent the loss of optimal cardiovascular health and the accumulation of cardiovascular risk in the future population.

Interventions to improve cardiovascular health are not common, but those that have been published most often address multiple modified risk factors among individuals within the community.

Relatively few interventions have been focused on constructing good cardiovascular health in children, as primordial prevention is lacking in Indian populations. Future research is essential to stop the emergence of cardiovascular risk factors, or in case the conditions emerge, be prepared to identify, diagnose, treat them, and prevent them from being carried into subsequent life stages.

Promotion of cardiovascular health is advisable in all stages of life. It is never too soon or never too late. Be healthy, Stay Healthy!"
