Miss World 2025: Nandini Gupta Champions Heritage Weave In Gaurang Shah's Khadi-Jamdani Saree, Pics!
Indian craftsmanship is beyond an art form! It expresses our history, culture, and human efforts woven into every minute detail! And when such marvels take up globally represented platforms, it wows and how! Nandini Gupta, Miss India World, made a grand entrance at the 72nd Miss World opening ceremony in Hyderabad, India, flaunting the Indian weave, a saree! The beautiful ensemble was designed to perfection by ace designer Gaurang Shah, who is known for reviving Indian handlooms and crafting pieces that demand attention and applause!
Read on as we decode beauty pageant holder Ms Gupta's ethnic avatar in detail!
Jugalbandi Of Weaves
If you haven't already, check out designer Gaurang Shah's masterpieces on his website and social media spread. Every outfit crafted by him till now defines just one thing: stunning and so wearable! From sarees, lehengas, stoles to accessories, his penchant for 'Indian weaves first' will make you fall in love in love with Indian art and artistry.
For Indian beauty, Nandini Gupta, he crafted something truly awe-worthy! A blend of 2 jamdani weaves from the culturally supreme states of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. This cultural mix was not just about sartorial perfection; it was, in fact, a noted tribute to India's cultural oneness and textile dominance!
The ivory base of the saree was Khadi, which is India's celebrated handspan fabric, which offers the ensemble an earthy touch. The pretty six yards were further polished with golden zari zamdani weaving in wave or leheriya design that crafted a visual rhythm which shimmered subtly. The classic combination of neutral white base and gold thread, especially for sarees, will always remain in vogue. This masterpiece by Gaurang is proof of that!
The Bangdi Mor Motif
Every ensemble features one or multiple 'something' that steals the attention. Nandini's classic silk saree featured a beautiful Mor motif that added a flair of colour and glamour to the ethnic weave. This peculiar Maharashtrian design represents peacocks dancing in circular motion, resembling a bangdi or bangle. It essentially defines harmony, beauty, and celebration!
The red silk, half-sleeved blouse matched the white fabric of the saree perfectly. Draped in Gujarati style, Ms Gupta added a sheer dupatta with a golden zari Butti design and border that matched with a traditional saree. A saree layered with a stole or dupatta makes the ideal combination for celebratory wear!
The Textile Story
Crafting this superior textile wasn't a work achieved overnight. It almost took 3 years to perfect the material, which shows off the patience and meticulous supremacy of the artisans. The design maven's concept for creating this beautiful outfit was rooted in one simple thought - it's not about dressing up the pageant queen, but to represent India's handloom mastery on the global platform.
For bringing this creative vision to life, the designer collaborated with master weavers from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The artisans added their unique regional and weaving expertise, which transformed into a cohesive flair that allowed each tradition to shine in perfection!
The Right Embellishments
Elevating traditional ensemble with everything ethnic is a winning combo! Nandini Gupta accentuated her traditional outfit with classic temple jewellery comprising jadau choker, long Laxmi haram, jhumkas, bindi, and vanki or arm bands. The golden coin-style waist belt added a structure to the saree.
The red-green glass bangles anchored with gold kadas perfected the classic Indian appearance. Miss India World's features were accentuated with subtle makeup, sleek bun with white gajra. When it comes to defining Indian beauty at its finest, Nandini Gupta in Gaurang Shah is the ultimate style cue!
