Air India, the most celebrated national carrier recently unveiled its new uniforms for cabin crew and pilots designed by ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra. On December 12, at a rebranding event, the airline's chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD), Campbell Wilson revealed the brand's new uniform look which is a fine blend of traditional meet modern! The revamped uniform for Air India defines sophistication and glamour in bold letters!

Air India took the plunge to revamp the uniform for its pilots and cabin crews after six decades. The national carrier officials collaborated with ace fashion designer and style expert Manish Malhotra who brought in his expert eye in design to give a brand new identity to Air India with its new uniform style!

Uniform with a Fine Blend

Earlier there were speculations about Air India's iconic saree uniform being replaced by more modern ensembles for flight attendants. But trust Manish Malhotra to bring in new design aesthetics while keeping the traditional essence of the ensemble intact! He revamped the sarees into trendy saree pants or saree pantsuits in three Indianised colours - reds, aubergine, and gold. The chosen hues define the core of a vibrant and confident new India.

Now the female cabin crew will flaunt ready-to-wear sarees featuring traditional jharokha patterns, vibrant colours and a brand new Air India logo the 'Vista'! The ethnic-modern ensemble is complemented with matching blouses and blazers. The ready-to-wear sarees can be paired with comfy pants too. The curated uniforms are designed keeping in mind the comfort, flexibility, and individual style of the flight attendants!

The cockpit crew of Air India will now sport black colour double-breasted suits with a chic print that resembles the Vista logo. The sophisticated uniform is designed to give that timeless and elegant charm to airline professionals.

Apart from the new uniforms, the airline crew will also have the complete look with brand-new curated footwear. The female crew will wear black and burgandy toned block heels and the male cabin crew will be sporting the classic black brogues. The chic and classy uniform of the female crew will be further accentuated with the classic pearl earrings and sling bags!

Manish Malhotra expressed his gratitude for allowing him to showcase his expertise in giving Air India a brand new identity. The ace design professional aimed to adapt the essence of India's diverse and vibrant culture while adding a sense of modernity to the same and the new ensemble design is the finest reflection of the conceptualisation that he envisioned for Air India's uniforms!

The expert designer took to social media and shared a heartfelt note on Instagram which read, "I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to design the uniforms for Air India. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the national flag-bearer and showcase the elegance and charm of Indian fashion.

My aim was to create uniforms that capture the essence of India's diverse culture and traditions while also embodying a modern and sophisticated look. By incorporating quintessential hues that are symbolic to India, I hope that these uniforms not only make the crew feel proud but also leave a lasting impression on the guests, representing the warmth and hospitality that India is known for."
